Bike Lane Submissions
Sidewalk isn't good enough....?
33rd and Lincoln St., Savannah, GA
Another frequently observed phenomenon in Savannah is the presence of pedestrians, bums with shopping carts, yuppies with baby carriages (do you really hate your baby that much?), joggers and other assorted not-supposed-to-be-in-the-bike-lane individualists. In addition to the perplexing frequency of bicyclists biking the WRONG WAY in this one way bike lane. DUH!
Meet the stupidest woman in Savannah:
1815 Lincoln St., Savannah, GA
Once again, this moron is blocking the bike lane in front of Delaware Center, 5:15pm, so I have to stop. Can't just swing out to the right into the street, because there is northbound traffic. I got out my camera, and took a few photos. As I'm doing this, the woman in the car got out, walked towards me, and told me that the next time I took a picture of her, she would "kill me by putting her car in reverse and backing over me." My response? "Go ahead, I'm waiting..." She got pissed! She got back in her car, and I saw the reverse lights go on. Hmmm, I was then thinking she may actually be serious. I was close to the curb, and I knew I could jump out of the way if she did it, but I just stood there in the bike lane with my bike under me, waiting for traffic to pass. I saw the reverse lights go off, and she began cursing me loudly, while a group of kids watched the crime in progress, and a young boy she was apparently there to pick up got in the car. I then moved to the front of her car, back in the bike lane, and photographed her as she continued cursing me and giving me the finger. One brave citizen came out and tried to explain to her that she was blocking the bike lane and she should move, but she couldn't understand that, and refused. When I had enough photographic evidence, I quickly proceeded north to escape the danger.
I called the police and reported this incident, and got a case number. Know what's going to happen? Nothing. Until she actually kills someone. This dangerous criminal is free to continue harassing and threatening bikers as she pleases. Just as I will continue to use and assert my right to use the city's bike lane for its intended purpose.
I feel like I'm all alone out there, and it really sucks....
Why do you hate bicycles so much?
Delaware Center, Lincoln St., Savannah, GA
Another ignorant motorist blocking the bike lane in front of the Delaware Center For The Elimination of Bike Lanes. This particular loser saw me coming up behind, and saw me having to stop due to car traffic behind me, and saw me take several photos, and still made not the slightest effort to comply with the law.
"Screw you, bikers!"
1815 Lincoln St., Delaware Center, Savannah, GA
La la la, care-free, illegal parking in the bike lane, which is never enforced. "Who cares, as long as I get my precious parking space, right?" After this ignorant driver committed this violation, I visited the nearby police station on Bull St., and asked a couple of dutiful officers if they would take an interest is this type of traffic injustice. They assured me that if I reported cars in the bike lane to the police non-emergency number, they would most certainly come out and issue a citation. SAVANNAH/CHATHAM POLICE NON-EMERGENCY: 912-652-6500. Call this number to report bike lane violations.
Chronic Bike Lane Blocker!
Delaware Center For the Mentally Deficient, Lincoln St., Savannah, GA
This vehicle was once again blocking the bike lane in front of the Delaware Center. A women got out of this car when she saw me taking the photo, and I calmly informed her that she was breaking the law. She rudely told me she had to park there because she was picking someone up. Oh, well, since that's the case...! She further expressed her belief that I should ride on the sidewalk! Wha???
Likes to curse in front of her chidren

A delightful woman was sitting in this idling car, with a child in back. When I photographed the truck in front of her, she got out and used some obscene language to describe me. She also suggested that I find something better to do with my time (she's probably right about that). Parked opposite Maxine Patterson's Dance and Parking Studio

too lazy to park correctly
1815 Lincoln St., Delaware Center, Savannah, GA
5:15pm. Plenty of legal spaces on the other side of the street, but why bother when it's easier to just break the law and endanger cyclists and show complete disregard for your neighbors and fellow citizens..... Screw everybody, right? Yeah, you're a winner!
Be sure to notice the bicycle rack placed prominently in front of this run-down dump of an institution. The bike rack is the only decent-looking feature this place has.
jerk knows he's in violation
Lincoln St. (Delaware Center), Savannah, GA
5:15pm This criminal took off when he saw me taking his picture. He went around the block and returned, and glared hard at me. I'm not intimidated. Hey loser, you don't want to threaten me, I'll defend myself. So just obey the law and try not to be such an inconsiderate a-hole.
