Bike Lane Violations in Savannah
is stealing a a bike considered a bike lane violation?
East Broad and Harris, Savannah, GA
i've been in savannah 3 weeks and had my wallet stolen, my car broken into and now my bike stolen - or wait, more like "exchanged" yesterday. Some [#$%&*?!] cut my pretty darned thick cable, took my bike, and left me this piece of [@$%^!?!$#] "in exchange" ?!
I left a sign and a hex lest he be returning to laugh at his wonderful excercise of entitlement.
I called police, made a report so as to add to the stats that might add up to some patrol cars (he said don't hold your breath), and told him every "welcome to Savannah" blog talks about the crime here yet I have not seen one cop car driving around...but of course the answer implied is that it's MY FAULT for OWNING A BIKE.
Right.
Time to get a Giulliani here people!
(Of course the thieve's piece of caca yet working bike is still out front, unlocked, and unstolen today. Savannahian thieves are not only entitled to an upgrade, they have very high standards - hey, come and get it)

Nissan Maxima makes maximum use of bike lane
5213 Habersham St, Savannah, GA
Lots of bicycles in the lanes on a sunny Saturday. Plus this car, with Liberty County plate, parked in the Habersham Street bike lane just north of DeRenne Avenue.
Cops!
Henry and Lincoln, Savannah, GA
Patrol car 4941. BUSTED! I'm sure they were nearby enforcing some non bike lane related laws, but I couldn't find them to point out the violation.
disrespectful, ignorant, lazy
Northbound Lincoln at Anderson, Savannah, GA
Absolutely no good reason for these vehicles to park in my bike lane. Lots of free parking across the street. Could not photograph the other vehicle because the individuals in front of this house saw me with my camera and started yelling some threatening nonsense. This is a scummy, crime-ridden section of town, so I took off quick down an alley; people around here are prone to violence.
southbound Habersham
Habersham and Van Dr., Savannah, GA
Pulled in right in front of me. I paused, and he took off after a minute when I pulled out camera.
Bad Vibe
Lincoln @ Liberty, Savannah, GA
Notice the cyclist who had to ride out in the street due to this inconsiderate person's lousy parking.
"I was GONNA move..."
1815 Lincoln St., Savannah, GA
Delaware Center, again. Belligerent man identified himself as a city employee. Woman said she was GONNA move. And I was NOT gonna call the police. But you DIDN'T. And I DID.
I'll run you over with my Tahoe!
Lincoln At Anderson, Savannah, GA
This vehicle pursued me moments after this image was taken, and the female driver was yelling some indecipherable gibberish out the window.
Is there something wrong with the people around here??
Moving truck
Lincoln at Hall, Savannah, GA
This truck, combined with a huge pickup truck behind it, created a massive obstruction of the bike lane.
9-Car Blockade!
5203 Habersham at Candler Dr., Savannah, GA
Fairly shocking display of law-breaking on a busy, dangerous stretch of Habersham. Some sort of gathering at 5203 Habersham put between 9 and 12 cars in the bike lane around 6pm. I called the police, and another cyclist who was also forced into the street called them, too. There was abundant free parking directly across the street for these yuppie fools.
Inconsiderate visitor
Lincoln at E. 37th, Savannah, GA
Out-of-town Camry blocking my bike lane. I called the police.
Big Truck
1815 Lincoln St, Savannah, GA
This truck, operated by Second Harvest, is a frequent user of the Lincoln Street bike lane. Its drivers park it in the bike lane during unloading. No unloading was taking place this morning when the photo was taken. Why not park the truck in the lane while unloading/waiting to unload?
Waiting for the bell at SVA
Lincoln Street near Harris Street, Savannah, GA
One of many cars parked in the bike lane near St. Vincent's Academy. Presumably this motorist is waiting to pick up a student at the end of the school day. Meanwhile, the cathedral's parking lot — less than half a block away — was mostly empty. Would that not be a better place for parents to park and wait for students?
